Corporate Accountability Lab will be seeking Legal Fellows for 2025-2026 with a strong interest in corporate accountability, a willingness to embrace creativity, and excellent written and oral communication skills. Legal Fellows will assist CAL in pursuing international supply chain transparency, exploring innovative civil litigation ideas, and developing new strategies for human rights and environmental accountability across the globe.

Responsibilities

A fellowship at Corporate Accountability Lab provides entry-level lawyers with the opportunity to work full-time on cutting-edge human rights work related to corporate accountability. Fellows work closely with CAL’s directors on projects, participate in the legal design lab, and are involved in all facets of the organization.

Unfortunately, CAL does not have internal funding for fellowships. However, CAL will work with candidates to identify appropriate funding sources and develop proposals and projects for fellowships as needed.

Fellowships are in-person at CAL’s office in Chicago. (Generally Tuesday-Thursday in-office; Monday-Friday virtual.)

Qualifications

Applicants should be: 

  • Organized, self-motivated, and reliable with a strong interest in human rights, international supply chains, and corporate accountability

Applicants should have:

  • A degree in law ( J.D. or foreign equivalent, or LLM);

  • Strong research and writing skills;

  • Fluency in oral and written English;

  • Experience working or interning in the corporate accountability field;

  • Computer skills (i.e., Microsoft Office, internet applications);

  • Fluency in a second language, particularly French, Spanish, or Haitian Creole preferred.

Note that because most of our work is international in nature, past fellows have been ineligible for Equal Justice Works and Skadden fellowship funding.
